ZF shows its latest innovations at Busworld Türkiye 2024

23 April 2024

As a steady participant of the Busworld shows around the world ZF Friedrichshafen will present its latest innovations at the upcoming Busworld Turkey from in Istanbul from May 29 to 31. For the first time in Turkey ZF will unveil the AxTrax 2 LF, ZF’s next generation electric axle for low floor city buses. Also ZF will showcase its advanced ADAS safety solutions as Collision Mitigation System (CMS) for city buses.

With all these innovations ZF is showing its latest technologies for bus manufacturers and fleets to deliver more decarbonized, safer and connected public transportation. The center stage is reserved for the next-generation electric axle for low-floor city buses, the AxTrax 2 LF, the first time it is shown in Turkey. The AxTrax 2 LF forms part of ZF’s next generation modular e-mobility kit, including an electric motor with hairpin winding technology and an 800 V silicon carbide (SiC) inverter. It will become available with a continuous output of up to 360 kW and a peak torque of up to 37,300 Nm, giving it a climbing ability of 20% for articulated buses with a gross vehicle weight of up to 29 tonnes with one drive axle. ZF emphasizes that the AxTrax 2 LF offers up to 10% energy savings compared to the previous generation. It is compact designed axle to maximizes available space for the passenger compartment. ZF states the required space is comparable to that of the AxTrax AVE. New software monitors the axle condition. Series production of AxTrax 2 LF is scheduled to start in 2025.

ZF’s new ADAS solutions including OnHand EPH as well as its advanced Collision Mitigation System (CMS) for city buses will also be on show at Busworld Turkey. ZF’s Collision Mitigation System (CMS) for City Buses is what ZF calls ‘a smart braking system that can actively detect vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians in - or entering - the path of the vehicle’. In the event of performing an emergency stop, the CMS system brings the bus to a halt. Also on show will be ZF’s OnHand Electro-Pneumatic Handbrake. Interesting will be the demonstration of ZF’s fleet orchestration platform, SCALAR. With it public transport managers are able to optimize road transport planning, dispatching and more in real-time and offers AI-based automated decision-making and service optimization. With SCALAR EVO Flow, fleet operators can access proprietary vehicle and driver data compatible with various vehicle peripherals, such as the tachograph, CAN bus or available sensors. And last but not least ZF shows live its digital fleet management solution, Bus Connect.
