Otokar is expanding in Europe with the acquisition of Italian Mauri Bus System SrL. The new subsidiary will also support Otokar’s ambitions for the Italian market. Turkish Otokar, a Koç Group company, who has been enjoying a steady growth in the European market, is now taking strategic steps to accelerate its expansion plans.
Following the acquisition of Mauri Bus System, Otokar is aiming to increase its market presence mainly with its renewed portfolio of zero emission vehicles through the newly acquired company. Mauri Bus System has delivered more than 700 Otokar branded buses to date. The Italian company, which celebrated its 101st anniversary last year, has been selling Otokar branded vehicles and providing after-sales services. Stating that Mauri is a deep rooted company, which has introduced many firsts to the Italian bus market in the past with its 101-year history, Otokar Deputy General Manager Kerem Erman said, “We are thrilled to welcome Mauri Bus System as Otokar subsidiary. With this acquisition, we are elevating our successful partnership of nearly 13 years to a new level. Italy has been one of our key markets. Otokar buses have been on the Italian roads since 2010.” Regarding the agreement Umberto Mauri, Mauri Bus System SrL CEO, said “We
are very proud to be a part of Otokar, a global brand. I’m confident that with this agreement Otokar will empower its presence in Italian market in terms of sales and aftersales.” Otokar currently has four international subsidiaries, and exports account for more than 70% of the company’s revenues. With this acquisition, Otokar has added a subsidiary company in Italy to its European operations after the companies in France and Romania. Established in 1921 as body vehicle repair workshop, Mauri Bus System SrL is the company that developed and manufactured Italy's first aluminium-bodied articulated bus, Europe's first trolley bus with emergency diesel engine, and the first 12-meter total low-floor bus in the Italian market. The company, has its own spare parts organization in Italy as well as a wide service network. Mauri Bus System has been operating as Otokar’s dealer in Italy since 2010.
