Bulgaria: bus carriers can again apply for financial support (by Kamioni.bg)

For the second time since the Covid-19 pandemic started, bus carriers in Bulgaria will be able to apply for financial support, said Minister of Transport, Information, Technology and Communications Hristo Alexiev at a meeting with representatives of the bus industry and municipalities.

Bulgarian transport website Kamion.bg reports that this tranche to support the sector financially for this year also include large bus companies and municipal passenger transport companies."The funds provided in the state budget are BGN 40 million (20.4 million euros). After notification by the European Commission, the procedure for applying for and receiving funding for carriers and municipal transport companies will start", said Minister Hristo Alexiev. He was adamant that every effort would be made to find the right mechanisms for the fair distribution of the envisaged state aid. Until the end of the year companies can enroll in the program.

 

 

Criteria for the aid are worked out together with the industry and the municipalities. "To this end, we need to work as quickly as possible to clarify the eligibility criteria and the application procedure for these funds", said Alexiev. To underline the importance of the financial aid, city officials like mayors and representatives of trade organizations, bus carries and Transport organizations and chamber of commerce emphasized the necessity of the aid provided.
